Why it exists

One PC and a 10GbE card, instead of a rack

Verifying an ST 2110/NMOS install usually means a waveform monitor, a protocol analyzer, a PTP grandmaster and an NMOS controller — each its own box. The 2110 Toolkit puts all of it, plus a reference signal generator, into one Windows application: install it on a laptop, plug in a NIC, and see exactly what's on the wire — picture, audio, network and timing — or generate a known-good stream to test the other end.

Analyze: receive & inspect

  • Video, audio and ANC decode for ST 2110-20/-30/-40 — up to 4K via DPDK on an Intel X550, or 1080p on a standard Windows NIC
  • Full-resolution picture on GPU, plus waveform, vectorscope, RGB parade, histogram and a pixel inspector

Generate: transmit a reference

No PTP source on the bench? The toolkit can act as its own grandmaster (ST 2059-2 or AES67) with BMCA, so you always have a reference to test against.

NMOS controller

IS-04 discovery via a registry or peer-to-peer mDNS, IS-05 connect/disconnect, and sender on/off — driven from the same app doing the analysis.

NMOS node & registry

The toolkit itself registers as an NMOS node, and ships a local IS-04 registry (nmos-cpp) with a web UI when your network doesn't already have one.

Beta, and honest about it

The 2110 Toolkit is functionally complete for v1 and has been verified interoperable with Blackmagic UpDownCross — NMOS registration, IS-05 connection management and reception all confirmed against real hardware.

Still being verified: long-run PTP lock stability, and reception of the toolkit's own transmitted stream by a third-party ST 2110 receiver. Available on request during the beta — request a trial below and we'll get it to you.

What does the 2110 Toolkit actually check?
Everything on the wire for ST 2110-20/-30/-40 — video, audio and ANC. That's full-resolution picture with waveform, vectorscope, RGB parade, histogram, a pixel inspector, and freeze/black/gamut alerts, plus audio levels, correlation and Lissajous, alongside network health (bitrate, loss, reordering, packet-interval histograms, a rough ST 2110-21 check) and PTP timing (offset, path delay, Allan deviation).
What hardware do I need?
A Windows PC with a network adapter. Full 4K workflows use DPDK on an Intel X550 10GbE card; a standard Windows NIC handles 1080p. No dedicated waveform monitor, protocol analyzer or PTP grandmaster required — the toolkit can stand in as its own PTP grandmaster and NMOS registry when your network doesn't have one.
Does it support NMOS?
Yes — an IS-04/IS-05 controller (registry-based or peer-to-peer mDNS discovery), the device's own NMOS node, and a built-in local registry (nmos-cpp) with a web UI, so you can bring up a full NMOS environment on a single machine.
Can it generate test signals, not just analyze?
Yes. Transmit a test pattern, still image, raw video file or pcap replay as an ST 2110-20 video stream plus an ST 2110-30 test tone, PTP-aligned, with SDP generated automatically and the sender exposed over NMOS — useful for testing a receiver or downstream device in isolation.
Is it ready for production use?
It's in beta. It's been verified interoperable with Blackmagic UpDownCross for NMOS registration, IS-05 connection management and reception. We're still verifying long-run PTP lock stability and reception of our own transmitted stream by a third-party ST 2110 receiver, so treat it as a serious diagnostic tool under active hardening — not yet a certified conformance suite.
